The International Symposium on Advances in Technology Education (ISATE) is an annual symposium held in Singapore or Japan. Planned and organized by the Institute of National Colleges of Technology,Japan (INCT) and Singapore's five polytechnics, ISATE has offered a great opportunity for teachers at technical schools to deepen their insight into technology education and also to cultivate friendship with their peers in both countries.

This year ISATE is going to be held in Kitakyushu, Japan. The theme for ISATE 2012 is "Aiming to Foster the Practical Engineer."

The ISATE 2012 committee sincerely hopes the symposium will promote ties among researchers and educators of science and technology in Singapore and Japan, as well as other countries.

The brief history of ISATE is as follows:
ISATE started in 2007 as an international academic exchange between ten colleges of technology (known as Kosen in Japan) in the Kyushu and Okinawa district, Japan and three polytechnics in Singapore aiming to enhance the quality of engineering education of each participating school. In 2010 all the other Japanese Kosens joined the Symposium under the initiative of INCT. Then two more polytechnics from Singapore further jointed the international exchange effort in 2011 that has expanded the scope of ISATE as it is today. All the Kosens in Japan and all the polytechnics in Singapore are part of it now.
